the Institute of Endocrinology

Diabetes, Health & hormones Specialists

The endocrine system is a system of glands in the body that secrete specific hormones into the bloodstream for the regulation of metabolism, growth & development, tissue function, & mood. When this system is impaired, your health is adversely affected.

Serving adults, adolescents, & children across the region, the Institute of Endocrinology is focused on providing the highest level of quality, comprehensive endocrine care for each individual patient.

Call us today for an appointment if you’re seeking to more effectively treat & manage your diagnosed disease, or if you’re experiencing symptoms believed to be connected to diabetes, thyroid, metabolism, or growth problems. (Click on our Diabetes & Thyroid Page for more information & helpful links.)

Why do patients choose the Institute of Endocrinology for their care?
“We are a complete center, not just an office. The patient comes to us, & leaves fully prepared.”

~Sherief M. Kamel, MD FACE ECNU

IEDHH physicians are experienced in treating the most difficult cases, & implement evidence-based clinical care customized to the individual patient. Utilizing the most current practices, therapies, nutritional & pharmacological treatments, our healthcare providers are committed to providing the best care in the region. Supported by a team of specialty-trained Nurse Practitioners & professional support staff, IEDHH provides patients with the benefits of a full-service Endocrine Center.

“We create specific treatments, unique ways of treating, which will work for the patient. We advocate research & in some cases use non-traditional methods.”

~Sherief M. Kamel, MD FACE ECNU

IEDHH doctors are also skilled in Sonography of the Neck, & in Biopsies of the Thyroid, Parathyroid, & Lymph Nodes. We offer the added convenience, control, & quick results of in-house Ultrasound, Bone Density DXA Scan, Neuropathy & Limb Circulation tests, & many others. Our practice has a license to administer Radioactive Iodine to perform diagnostic uptake studies for Thyroid problems on site. We even treat thyroid cancer in the same ‘hot’ Nuclear lab.

“We admit our own patients to the hospital, if needed.
I will personally see them there & provide for their care.”

~Sherief M. Kamel, MD FACE ECNU

Practitioners at IEDHH have developed solid working relationships with local hospitals & physician teams, to communicate & coordinate with your Primary Care Physician, or other medical professionals who may be treating you for different conditions. & if you are admitted to one of the Panhandle hospitals, an IEDHH Clinician will personally see you, so you’re assured of receiving care from a health professional who is familiar with your medical history & treatment. IEDHH Healthcare Providers hold admitting privileges to Gulf Coast Medical Center, Bay Medical Center, & Select Specialty Hospital.

“We recommend the latest tools to manage these diseases, & we offer classes to our patients so they can learn how to most effectively use them.”

~Sherief M. Kamel, MD FACE ECNU

The Institute of Endocrinology conducts Health Education Classes for groups & individuals so our patients are well-informed & equipped to use a variety of treatment methods & therapeutic tools like Nutrition plans, Insulin Pumps, Insulin Pens, & Continuous Glucose Monitors.
